Zak Designs was founded in 1976, and we have been in the business of bringing smiles to our customers ever since. No one had ever thought of putting iconic characters on dinnerware before Irv Zakheim brought up the idea. Encouraged by the achievements of the Zak Zany Zoo Oven Mitts (a unique twist on ordinary oven mitts that proved their popularity by appearing on the set of Seinfeld), he continued exploring ways to put a little joy into everyday activities. In 1988, Zakheim convinced Disney to let him spotlight the Chip'n Dale Rescue Rangers on his products. Zak Designs was allowed two new movies the following year: the live-action Dick Tracy and an animated feature. The Little Mermaid and its merchandise saw undeniable success, demonstrating the appeal of characters on children?s dinnerware and solidifying Zak Designs as a leader in the category.
But we haven't just been sitting on our laurels since then kids aren't the only ones who can use a little mealtime fun, so we're always looking for new ways to expand and provide for people of all ages. We've launched a toddler line that helps your child form healthy habits early, while baking sets designed to fit little hands encourage involvement in the kitchen.
