S-Type thermocouples are made from Platinum and Platinum/Rhodium, two very precious and expensive metals. Therefore it is not feasible to make connector wires from these materials. The high temperature s-type wire is normally run only to a ceramic connector block at the outside of the furnace, and from there a special S-type extension wire is run to the thermometer or controller.
This is a S-type thermocouple extension wire SW1 used to hook up high temperature S-type thermocouples. It is made from Copper (+) and Copper Alloy (-). It sometimes is called RSX wire, since it can be used as extension wire for S-type and R-Type thermocouples.
This wire uses solid AWG 24 leads with fiberglass insulation, which is stable up to 750 degree Fahrenheit or 400 degree Celsius. The wires are color coded, Black for + and Red for - (ANSI conform). This lead has bare wire ends, which works with most digital S-type PID oven, kiln and furnace controllers with screw terminals.
