Cigar Box Guitar, "Wiseman - El Gueguense" Box - 3 Strings #250

Description

This is a handcrafted instrument built by me at Schmied Guitars. This is a 3 string short scale Cigar Box Guitar. It plays very nice, the fret board is very comfortable, has low action makes it easy to play . This is an electric guitar that can be amplified, it has a single coil magnetic pickup, you can plug it into a guitar amp with a standard guitar cable.
Note: The neck is slightly off center from the box. But the neck and bridge are completely aligned and this does not affect playability of the instrument.
Guitar details:
Length: the guitar length is 35 Inches
Body: I used a "Wiseman" cigar box, the box size is 11.5 x 7.5 x 2 inches deep. This box produces a nice and full sound given is large size.
Neck and fingerboard: The neck is made from oak and fingerboard is carved from walnut wood. This wood is dense and it gives the guitar great tone and sustain. It has inlaid side dot markets, and poplar inlaid fret markers. There is some detail work done at the heel using purpleheart and on the peghead as well using cedar and purpleheart. Strings: I used electric medium gauge strings.
String gauges: 38w, 24w, 16p
Bridge: Stratocaster style, adjustable bridge
Tuning: This one is tuned to Open G (GDg), With these same strings you can tune it up to open A or change the strings and get the tuning you want.
Scale: I used a 24 ½ inches scale from nut to bridge
Frets: medium sized frets, It has 18 frets, no buzzing and excellent playability. the action is low enough to play finger-style up and down the neck. It can also be played with a slide (see my bottleneck and copper slides)
