    86L20 Cold Finish Bar Steel
    OSI stocks 86L20 Cold Finish Bars. 8620 is the most widely used carburizing alloy.  The "L" is a lead additive to improve machinability.  The nickel content imparts good toughness and ductility, and the chromium and molybdenum increases hardness penetration and wearability. The end result is a produce with a strong tough core and high case hardness. It machines at 110 SFM and has good welding qualities. In the leaded grade, machinability is improved without the sacrifice of other desirable properties, with the exception that the use of this material is not recommended for applications over 400°F since at elevated temperature ductility is low.
